Whats connected overview

WhatsConnected is a cost-effective Layer 2/3 discovery, mapping, inventory, and IT asset reporting solution. Use WhatsConnected to automatically discover, map, inventory and document your network (devices, servers, workstations, virtual resources, hardware, and software assets) and port-to-port connectivity in just minutes.

Powerful Automation
Using its powerful auto-discovery and dynamic mapping capabilities and simple one-click integration with Visio™, your team will always have crucial information at its fingertips.

With WhatsConnected, you can easily document your network, topology maps and network diagrams, ensure complete accuracy, and give your operations teams the power to immediately visualize how everything is connected.

New in WhatsConnected v3.1!

  • Receive email alerts on missing or added devices and network topology changes, you’ll know immediately when your network changes.
  • Exporting of your network maps to .PDF format, a view that cannot be altered by the reader and is great for distribution to your team.
  • Ability to scan for and display port duplex settings to determine if ports are configured correctly. Now you can easily refer back to this information when troubleshooting connectivity issues.
  • Ability to keep older versions of the Discovery file for historical purposes, and you can also specify how many older versions to keep.

WUG WhatsConnected – Discovery & Mapping

How Discovery Works

WhatsConnected uses a number of innovative Layer 2 and Layer 3 discovery technologies, (ARP, SNMP, SSH, Virtual Infrastructure Management, IP addressing, ICMP and LLDP, etc.), to discover your network, including port-to-port connectivity.

Comprehensive inventory and configuration information from Windows systems and other servers is also collected using agentless polling techniques via SNMP, SSH, WMI and Telnet.

For every asset in your network, WhatsConnected provides detailed physical connectivity, device type, asset/inventory and configuration information, and presents it all in an easy-to-use format.

Map & Visualize
WhatsConnected auto-generates topology maps with full visibility into both physical and IP connectivity, including VMware host-guest relationships. Any map generated or customized can be saved, printed and shared.

Maps can be customized to show any aspect of the topology and individual links can be hidden or shown.

Why Use WhatsConnected to Map and Visualize Your Network?

  • Supports the display of physical topology in either spoke, hierarchical or custom views
  • Displays both physical and virtualized infrastructure
  • Provides correlation of Layer 2 connectivity to Layer 3 addressing
  • Easily exportable maps to Microsoft® Visio™ or save files to PDF format
  • Stores historical versions of each discovery for documentation and reference
  • Automatically finds and maps new devices, Layer 2 connectivity changes, or updates to physical or virtual associations and alerts you of the changes

Whatsconnected Asset Management

As part of the discovery process, WhatsConnected automatically collects comprehensive inventory and configuration information across networking devices and systems using SNMP, SSH, WMI and Telnet.
